We are a Hinge success story! At the time that we matched, Jack was only planning to be back in Green Bay for a short amount of time due to it being spring break at grad school. Luckily, we were able to figure out a time to get a quick drink and work through an escape room together.
Jack and I met at Main Street Bourbon here in Green Bay. He ordered an old-fashioned (with no soda, of course). Who knows what I ordered, odds are I didn’t even finish the cocktail with all the chatting I was doing. It became very clear, very quickly, that I had a tendency to chit-chat and Jack was a great listener. He was such a great listener that he managed to pick up on my “Yooper” accent enough to poke fun at me for it. From the bourbon room to the escape room to an unplanned stop at a brewery, we were enjoying each other’s company so much that the entire date ended up lasting seven hours. We ended up making the time to see each one more time before Jack went back to school. We were a perfect match from the start.
For someone who thought she’d see the engagement coming from a mile away, no one was more surprised by the proposal than I was. The day of the proposal started off just as any other Saturday did. A 7AM tee time for Jack with me riding shotgun in the golf cart, breakfast burrito in one hand and a bloody mary in the other. Who would have thought that a man about to ask the most important question of his life would have shot his best round of golf? I must have been Jack’s lucky charm that day!
A week or two prior, Jack had planned a picnic date for the two of us, something I’d been hoping to do for a while at that point. In hindsight, there should have been some bells going off in my head - specifically when Jack started to get extremely particular about where the picnic would be and what time we had to be there. We ended up at Pamperin Park, wandering around for 20 minutes trying to find the perfect spot to sit. By the time we found our spot, I was tired and sweaty and ready to eat. We finally got ourselves settled and just two chocolate-covered pretzels later, I heard Jack asking me to stand up. As I stood up, I turned around to see him on one knee and the most beautiful ring staring me in the face. I was so immediately shocked by what was happening, I forgot to even say yes! But I’d like to think my reaction gave my new fiance his answer. But of course, the engagement wasn’t surprising enough and Jack managed to make sure our family and friends were all waiting for us to celebrate afterwards. May 31st, 2025 will definitely be a day we won’t forget!
I have always liked the look of an oval diamond, but wanted something a little different. With little help from me, Jack truly picked the perfect ring to capture what I was hoping for. The gold band holds diamonds on either side of the main stone and, in my opinion, highlights its beauty. He did an absolutely stunning job and I couldn’t be happier with it!
