We met at an Ohio State Fair Board meeting, and little did we know that it was the beginning of a lifetime together. Before we married, we spent one year navigating a long-distance relationship while attending colleges on opposite sides of the country. I was at Stanford, and BJ was at Bowling Green. Despite the distance, our relationship continued to grow, and the rest, as they say, is history.
I first proposed to BJ on December 24th, 1974. To celebrate our 50th wedding anniversary, we created a new chapter in BJ’s ring, giving me the special opportunity to propose to BJ all over again and reaffirm a lifetime of love and commitment.
I asked BJ’s father for his blessing and permission to marry her in the Dairy Barn, a special moment that marked the beginning of our journey together.
BJ’s ring is as special and timeless as she is. Her wedding set features a solitaire engagement ring with a brilliant round-cut diamond, complemented by a wedding band set with seven round brilliant-cut diamonds.
